The evidence behind SleepPro
Most anti-snoring devices ask you to take their word for it. SleepPro doesn't have to.
SleepPro mandibular advancement devices were among those assessed in TOMADO — an independent randomised controlled trial funded by the UK's National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and published in Thorax in 2014.
The trial compared three mandibular advancement devices against no treatment in 90 adults. Two of the three were SleepPro devices made by Meditas Ltd: the self-moulded SleepPro 1 and the semi-bespoke SleepPro 2 — the device behind today's Custom S2.
Its published conclusions were clear: mandibular advancement devices are cost-effective in snoring, and a semi-bespoke device — the SleepPro 2 — is the appropriate first choice for most snorers in the short term. The trial also found that a well-fitted, individually made device was better tolerated than a basic self-mould, which in turn helped people keep using it.
If you think you may have a medical sleep condition, it should be diagnosed and managed with a clinician — the right device, and the right jaw position, are best decided as part of that care. Take your impression at home
You take an impression of your bite, upper and lower teeth as required in your own time. If you’re unsure, our support team can help you check that your impression is good. -
Post it back to the lab
Use the supplied packaging to send your impression to our UK dental laboratory. Our technicians then fabricate your bespoke SleepPro Custom S2 device. Our kits are made in bulk and shipped to many distributors and outlets worldwide. Unfortunately, this means it just isn't
possible to add the correct prepaid return postage as we don't know where our kits are ultimately going to be coming from.
NOTE: International customers will also need to add a customs form. Please identify the contents as dental impressions and a
value of $20 as that reflects the true replacement cost of the impression materials you are sending -

Why do I have to pay to send my impression back? Can't you offer prepaid return?
Two very good questions we get asked a lot and worth spending time on providing a detailed explanation.
We are focused on providing a quality product, exceptional customer service at a sensible price. In the early days we offered the full package of prepaid return stickers. Just pop the impression in the bag and drop it in the post box!
Well, that was a bit of a mistake, as many customers did just that. Put the impression in the bag, put the sticker in and dropped it in the post box. Much to the detriment of the impressions! Many arrived damaged beyond use so we had to reissue a new kit for the customer to retake the impression. For those in a hurry, that was not acceptable!
So, we amended instructions to ensure the impressions were well wrapped before posting! The prepaid return service (Royal Mail Service) had specific parameters for weight and size, whilst light in weight, customers started to send in packages way to big, plenty of padding but over the size limitation for the prepaid service, so we were fined for every item over the limit. Which seemed to be most of them. Raising the size limit to the next band of pre-paid service made it too expensive!
Whilst we used a first class pre-paid service the actual delivery time to our office ran from 5-10 days! Not acceptable to many customers and justifiably so, packets arriving with us when the item should have been made and delivered back to the customer in the same time scale.
Phone calls a plenty! “Where’s my order I sent it first class using your label” Delayed by having too much padding added up to 5 days, delays from the poor postal service added 5-10 days it was not a sustainable situation!
Add to this the ever increasing postal rates and a declining service we had to find a solution!
Couriers? Way to expensive and equally if not worse at pickups or special arrangements!
So, after months if not years of trial and error, we decided to put the responsibility and expense of sending the impressions back here onto the customer. What a difference!
- With customers now engaged in the process of shipping the impressions back, packages now arrived well packed without having to give instructions.
- Postage fees applied correctly, no excess fees to pay
- Express items sent without us having to make special arrangements.
- Still no answer for the lost or delayed packages, but with customers engaged in the shipping process there is more understanding when things do go wrong in the postal system.
So while it may seem to some it’s a “penny pinching scam” it is in fact cheaper for the customer, more efficient and allows us to deliver a quality product and service

International orders and EU customers
We ship SleepPro products from our UK laboratory. Delivery options and costs are shown at checkout.
For orders delivered outside the UK, your local customs authority or delivery company may charge import VAT, customs duty or handling fees before delivery. These charges are set by your country and are the customer’s responsibility.
EU customers: SleepPro products are also available through our European distributor at SleepPro.eu. If you are based in the EU, ordering from our EU distributor may be a simpler option, especially if you prefer local EU service and delivery.
Custom-made products: If your product is made from your dental impressions, we first send you an impression kit. After taking your impressions, you will need to pay the postage to send them back to our UK laboratory, unless stated otherwise. This is different from off-the-shelf products, which do not require impressions to be returned.
For international impression returns, please complete any required customs declaration and describe the contents as “dental impressions / impression material”. The declared value should reflect the replacement value of the impression materials only, not the value of the finished custom device.
Risk Assessment
Making your own dental impressions is straight forward but can has some risks which you should be aware of before deciding
Allergy. We use vinyl polysiloxane. Vinylpolysiloxane (VPS) is a type of silicone-based impression material commonly used in dentistry. It is a popular choice for making accurate dental impressions due to its high dimensional stability, tear strength, and accuracy. VPS is available in a variety of viscosities, allowing dental practitioners to choose the appropriate consistency based on the specific application. It is used in a variety of dental procedures, including crowns, bridges, and dentures. VPS has largely replaced traditional impression materials like alginate due to its superior accuracy and ease of use.
Damage to teeth, crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, implants, crowns or other oral prosthesis. So long as your teeth are in good health, your crowns etc are fitting well and are not loose or leaking the risk of damage is minimal. But should you be concerned please check with your dentist first before considering a purchase or proceeding with any impression process. Ultimately it is your choice and we do not accept responsibility for any damage caused using our impression system.
Stuck impression. The impression material used is soft and "fluid" it is designed to flow around and between teeth to provide an accurate impression. If you have very "gappy" teeth or receding gums this can create more undercuts and greater surface area of tooth. Whilst the impression material does not have any adhesive quality, it can feel "stuck" to the teeth when trying to remove it. It is best to remove it by first breaking the suction on one side, pulling the impression off the molar area first usually works best. Once the impression starts to move it should slowly release all the way around. In the rare circumstances you are unable to break the suction a call to 111 will be necessary to find a duty dentist who would be able to assist. This is however exceptionally rare occurrence, but must be mentioned as a potential risk.
Bleeding after impression removal. If taking blood thinning medication, please be aware that when removing the impression it is possible to scratch or puncture the gum with a misplaced fingernail! Care should be taken if you are know to bleed easily.
If you experience bleeding gums after taking a dental impression, it is important to take it seriously. Bleeding gums can be a sign of inflammation, infection or trauma to the gums. Ignoring it can lead to serious dental problems such as gum disease, which can eventually lead to tooth loss.
To take action, first, consult your dental professional. They may recommend a follow-up appointment to assess the situation and provide you with an appropriate treatment plan. In the meantime, you can improve your oral health by gently brushing twice a day, flossing once a day, and using an antiseptic mouthwash. Be sure to avoid acidic or sugary foods and drinks that can irritate your gums. Finally, stay hydrated and get enough sleep to help your body heal. Remember, early detection and treatment can prevent serious dental problems down the line.

You understand that if any impression is not satisfactory, any further supplies of impression material is available at our discretion and at your cost plus carriage.

Long-Term Dental Care & Morning Jaw Exercises
Mandibular advancement devices work by gently holding the lower jaw forward during sleep. This can be very effective for suitable users, but long-term use should be monitored as part of your normal dental care.
Why dental check-ups matter
Over time, any mandibular advancement device may affect how your teeth meet when you bite. In some users, this can include small changes in tooth position, bite contact, or jaw comfort.
Regular dental check-ups help ensure that:

Pressure points, looseness, or wear can be dealt with promptly
If you have gum disease, loose teeth, untreated decay, crowns, bridges, implants, jaw joint problems, or ongoing dental pain, please speak to your dentist before using a mandibular advancement device.
Morning jaw exercises
After wearing the device overnight, your jaw may temporarily feel slightly forward or your bite may feel different. Simple morning jaw movements can help your jaw return to its usual resting position.
After removing the device, gently:

Open and close your mouth several times

Move your jaw from side to side

Bite together lightly to re-establish your normal bite

Follow any specific exercises or advice given by your dentist
Some users may also be advised by their dentist to use a morning repositioning splint.

Recently diagnosed sleepapnea and have been given a CPAP machine to use, wchi I just couldn't get on with.
Searched everywhere online for an alternative and came across SleepPro.
This mouthgaurd has really improved my sleep and my wife is much happier sleeping next to me as my snooring has significantly reduced. She has noticed continuous breathing when I'm sleeping, which is a great releif to her and myself!

I had been using a non-customised device for around 6 months, and whilst it did work, it was uncomfortable and I dribbled - not a good look! I was advised to use a semi customised device by the sleep clinic, with this brand as one to look at. The moulding of the device was the most difficult as it kept falling out of my mouth overnight, and it took 3 attempts before I thought that that was the best I was going to get! The tooth impression was a piece of cake! I was sceptical that it would work, considering the difficulties with moulding initially BUT from day one, it fitted like a glove, comfortable to wear and no dribbling! Now the only snoring picked up on my app comes from my husband 😂

I chose the Custom Pro because it mentioned there was no need to boil & fit, however the first step on the instructions is to boil & fit the temporary mould!
I tried to fit the temporary mould but gagged every time. I emailed help@sleeppro.com on 27/11/24 for advice and have never received a response.

I found it very uncomfortable. It really hurts my front teeth. I knew what I was getting. Yet it kept waking me, as my mouth is so restricted. I tried it for two weeks. I just don’t get on with it, well. Shame. As it was quite expensive. No bad reflect on the product or company. Just not for me.

The first was perfect fit but after 12 months it split were the top is fixed to the bottom, so ended up with 2 pieces.
i will continue to use these are they do seem to work and my sleep is greatly improved

This is a very very good design.
The soft material moulds easily to tooth shapes and the trays provide strength. Inevitably this makes them a little bit bulky so it's harder to keep mouth closed but they do keep their shape and function (Unlike other designs.)

The bottom set of teeth were slightly off set to the left and i had jaw ache in the morning but snoring did not occur.

The first guard was very uncomfortable and placed too much strain on my upper bridge to feel safe to wear. You sent me another made of softer material but I couldn't feel any difference. I have send both guards back because you offered to reset the amount of lower jaw movement to help the issue. To date I have been unable to use the guard but your after sales has been extremely good, you have tried to help but am now awaiting the return of the adjusted guard to see if it is usable.

Hello and thanks for the product.
I feel it helps with snoring. I am a very light sleeper and struggle with sleeping with it.
Could it be made smaller, and safer.
The initial pack and instructions were good, would be better with video of how to assemble etc. some people dont learn very well from text.
my issue is apnea. and i returned the cpap as i couldnt cope with it. the mouthpiece I gave a try. Overall for me i think its a fail. It is stressing my teeth, and i struggle to sleep with it. But it definitely eliminates the snoring during the periods i sleep.
Finally the situation between sending goods between ireland and uk, adds extra taxes on my costs. makes the mouthpiece very expensive. I think it probably works for people for me i think i will revisit CPAP

very good process, kit arrived and moulded teeth for it to be sent off. Sleep pro arrived however in use I found it quite tight and as i tend to grind teeth at night had some discomfort, I feel that it is a little too tight on my teeth.

After the initial mishap of my dog chewing my first device after only 3 days use (lesson learned keep it way out of dog reach). I find the sleepro has made a difference to the severity of my snoring. I did find initially that it made my teeth feel slightly odd as it holds the lower jaw forward. But I soon got used to that and find I don’t notice it as much now and can sleep through with no issues.

I’ve been wearing my appliance for a week. It’s tight. Consequently my teeth hurt when I remove it, but only for a few minutes. I manage to keep it in and I’m sure my sleep quality has improved. I sleep alone so I haven’t got anyone to comment. I’ll certainly continue to wear it.

I have used my SleepPro custom S2 for about a week now and find it so much more comfortable than other products I had tried. It fits very well, and my lower jaw doesn't fall out of it, as I tend to be a mouth breather when I sleep. I don't wake up as often during the night.
